Fenerbahçe host Slavia Praha at Chobani Stadium Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu on October 20 in League Stage - 3 of the UEFA Champions League. It is early in the league phase, but the table already shows the stakes. Fenerbahçe sit 28th and Slavia Praha 31st, so both clubs are in the lower half and looking for a result to climb.

The most relevant factor is the way both sides arrive after defeats on matchday 2. Fenerbahçe lost 6-0 away to Aston Villa on October 14, and Slavia Praha lost 2-0 away to Sabah FA on October 13. Both teams therefore have a European setback to answer. Domestically the picture is far better for each. Fenerbahçe won 3-0 at Rizespor in the Süper Lig on October 10 and beat Eyüpspor 8-0 at home on September 20. Slavia Praha won 1-0 at Zlin in the Czech Liga on October 9 and beat Plzen 2-1 at home on September 20.

The head-to-head record gives a second angle. Slavia Praha won both February 2022 meetings, 3-2 away on February 24 and 3-2 in Istanbul on February 17, where Fenerbahçe were the listed home side. Fenerbahçe won the most recent meeting 2-1 on November 28, 2024, so the history is evenly balanced and recent.

Neither club reports any unavailable players. İ. Kartal can pick from a full Fenerbahçe squad that includes Ederson, Škriniar, Guendouzi, Greenwood and Muriqi, and Jindrich Trpisovsky has a full Slavia Praha group including Chory, Provod and Sadilek. Both coaches also have both options for rotation, since each squad list covers every outfield area.

This looks like a contest between two clubs in the lower half of the table, each needing a response to a heavy matchday 2 defeat.
